Babies born alive bill in Australia

At the beginning of March Cherish life sent an email regarding taking urgent action in supporting the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2022.

If this Bill was to be introduced it would ensure that every child that has been born alive as a result of a failed abortion would be provided with the same level of medical care as any other newborn child. Currently in Australia, this isn’t the case.

Senators Alex Antic (Liberal Party, South Australia), Ralph Babet (United Australia Party, Victoria) and Matt Canavan (LNP, Queensland) introduced the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2022 into the Australian Senate.

On the 8th of June, alongside other incredible Pro-Life organisations, Cherish Life had the privilege of being invited to provide evidence to the Senate Committee, who are conducting an inquiry into Bill.

The following YouTube video is the opening statement from Cherish Life Executive Officer Matthew Cliff, along with questions and responses from Senators:

Another video below from Senator Ralph Babet includes testimony from other Pro-Life organisations:

Senate Inquiry report is due at the end of August and we look forward to seeing what recommendations will be made.

Most Australians are completely unaware that this is happening and Cherish Life organisation is urging all federal parliamentarians to vote in favour of this Bill. Even if the Bill saved one life – it would be worth it!
